Join us for our first in person Qoya class in 6 months!!
Not only is this our first in-person class, it is also a celebration for Nectar Community’s first birthday!!! And no, you do not need to be a Nectar member to come dance or celebrate with us! Woohoo!
This class will not be offered online. The only live streaming that will be done here is the actual stream next to our site. ;-) But seriously, there’s no wifi up here, sorry. xoxo

Never in a million years did I think that I’d be hosting a celebration to honor the first year of Nectar, not at Nectar because of a global pandemic, but here we are.

We have rented the picnic shelter #6 at Paris Mountain State Park, (across from the Sulphur Springs Trail) from 8am-8pm. Qoya begins promptly at 6pm, as the gates of the park close at 8pm.

We will be going on a gratitude hike at 2:45pm on the Sulphur Springs Trail (there’s a separate listing for the hike, for those who can’t stay for Qoya but want to hike with us). I will be up there all day, starting about 10am. You’re welcome to join me (Sara) if you want to come relax or simply be in nature.

Then we’ll eat our own picnic dinners before Qoya, around 5pm. I will have a cooler of non-alcoholic bevs and some celebratory desserts for all (just bring your own snacks or dinner).

SCHEDULE:
10am: Sara at picnic shelter #6 (feel free to come hang out and do your own thing)
12pm: Lunch with Sara
2:45pm: Sulphur Springs Trail Hike
5pm: Dinner and Birthday Party at picnic shelter
6pm-8pm: Qoya Class next to shelter #6

About Qoya…

Qoya is movement as medicine. It is based on this simple idea : through movement we remember.
We remember, that our physical essence is Wise, Wild, and Free.
Wise Wild, and Free also draw reference to the movement forms practiced in a Qoya class.
Wise: inspired by the wisdom of yoga
Wild: reclaiming your true nature through the creative expression in dance
Free: the freedom to feel pleasure in the body through feminine movement

In Qoya, you dance and feel free, connect with yourself AND with everyone else! There is no other experience like it!

There are no special skills required, just the desire to move, and feel good! We move and stretch the entire body, listen to great music, and seek the pleasure in the movement!

But Qoya is soooooooo much more than dancing, and good music. It is a way of living in your fullest expression of who you are. It is a way to tap into yourself, to remember and then honor your wholeness.

Movement is metaphor, what would it feel like to literally and figuratively expand your heart? What would it feel like to be able to receive more, give more, and find pleasure in your day, your relationships, your business?

Qoya is an access tool, a map to help you come home to your body, where truth is available at all times.
Welcome to Qoya.

The intention of this class is to create and hold sacred space for those identifying as women/womxn/transfeminine to freely express themselves through movement, regardless of gender assigned at birth. If you desire a Qoya class but aren't sure if this is the class for you, please contact us at info@nectarcommunity.com.

List of things to bring:

***We are asking that you wear masks if you are within 6 ft of others or are near any of our food/bev stations (especially for Qoya sharing). You’ll also need a mask if you need to go into the visitors center for any reason. We know masks are not the most comfortable, but we also want to do everything in our power to lessen the possible impact of the virus in our community. Thank you for your help in this!

***If you are feeling ill, have a temp, or are at all under the weather please stay home to get some rest. We love you, and we will see you as soon as you’re feeling better! Thanks for caring about all of us as well.

***Bring a blanket/yoga mats whatever you’d like to do Qoya on or to enjoy the outdoors.

***Bring your lunch/dinner/snacks. I will have lots of water and other bevs all day.

***Bring your sunscreen and bug spray!

***Park admission fee is $6 for adults, and is not included in this event. They prefer to be paid via credit card right now.

***There are outhouses near our site, and I will create a little hand washing station and hand sanitizer for all.

side note….
As much as we love our families, please leave kids and or partners at home, or at least send them on a hike while you have this time for yourself and for our community. Our shelter only allows us to have a limited number of people, and they’re allowing us to dance there without a permit, based on the number of people we are hosting. Thanks for your understanding!
